Pellet Stoves (Freestanding/Inserts)

Pellet stoves are one of the most efficient ways to heat your home. Newer stoves have multiple features to heat your home up quickly. If you are not familiar with how the operate we will explain below. In order to load your pellet stoves on top there is a drop and chamber inside. This is called the hopper. Inside the hopper is an auger. The auger spins and dispenses pellets inside of the stove. You are able to adjust how fast or slow the auger spins. The faster the auger spins the more pellets are dropped. The more pellets in the stove the hotter it gets. In addition to adjusting the auger sped these units typically come with a blower as well to adjust air pushed out from the stove. The higher than fan speed the further and faster the air will move resulting in heating up quicker. Newer stoves are even equipped with battery back ups for the unit so it can still run even if you loose power. Pellet stoves are much easier and simpler to operate than a woodstove. This does of course come with its downfalls. Based on the complexity and amount of moving parts pellet stoves are typically more expensive than woodstoves.
