Brick Replacement

When you have multiple bricks that are either cracked or falling apart you can typically just replace the individual bricks themselves versus having to rebuild the entire wall or chimney as long as they are spread out around the wall or chimney. If too many of them are bad in one area rebuilding may be necessary. When removing the damaged bricks it is important that we do not damage any of the surrounding bricks or mortar. In order to accomplish this the brick and mortar must be scored to weaken it so it breaks versus the brick and mortar around it. This can be achieved in two different ways. You can either score the masonry by cutting the brick and mortar around it with a diamond blade on a grinder or you can drill it out using masonry drill bits. Each one has pros and cons. The benefit of scoring the masonry by cutting with a grading the be faster however it can create more dust. Removing by drilling it out is more time constricting, however it creates virtually no dust making it ideal for interior removals. Brick is matched by taking old bricks to the brickyard in the same lighting. Mortar is matched using a sample kit.
